Hoots of thunder in twilight

Away sounds of distant thunder

sparks prayer for cool weather

for a moment humidity flees

silence is broken by rustling trees

 sounds of night competing

as distant thunder abates the heat

coming dawn gazes upon the scene

coming unforgiving Sun-

not caring a hoot…

Sitting in my chair, the crack of distant thunder inspired this piece. I hope it does justice to this week’s Quadrille prompt on dVerseQuadrille #219 – A Poetic Hootenanny

Join in and “give a hoot about the rules and write a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting the title), including some semblance of the word hoot

Cheers! 🙂

Foul Weather (Rant)

Cruel star, burning
 Renders us UV-ray scares
 Glad I've got Sun-screen!

Barbecuing sky,
Do you like your humans crisp?
 I'm almost ready!

Nerve wrecking heat wave
 Blame it on global warming
 Feels like I'm melting!

Exactly how I feel right now! 😦

Haiku #14

Winds grumble outside my window,
I lay,
I listen,
It lulls
I lift…

Haiku #9- Preview to a rain storm… AT LAST!!!!

Nimbus veils in sky,
Electric displays within
Howling banshee winds...

Haiku #5- Damn Its Hot!

Sun screaming in sky
Fan in hand, blouse unbuttoned
Ice cream won't help none
