6:45am

Listening…

Imagination drawing pictures of a stary night..

Causing coursing desire to melt into my pillow

The wrongest time to come by such melody

As the sun already rises to great me.

GOOD MORNING!!!! 🙂

4.30am

Late night, no sleep, just scrolling through endless media chaos. Overwhelmed by info and feeling drained, but Lofi music saves the vibe. Good night or morning!

4.30am yet devoid of sleep
distraction after another
wired media feeds intellectual beast
news spanning from lies to the alleged
sedentary and sore eyed, yet mesmerized
Hypnotized by the vast sea of content
the he said she saids and DIYs
cat and dog compilation videos,
Global updates point to man’s decline
The entertainment scene, just as vile
Mind now hurting… info over load
Thank goodness for the Lofi genre

… Good night or do I say Good morning? 🙂

It’s Open Link Night (#379) over at the d’Verse Poets Pub. Feel free to join in 🙂

Two years ago today…

Papa and I in the hospital, shortly before his final exit

Two years ago today due to a case of pancreatic cancer, my Pa left me and the family for where I think is THE BEST place NOT on Earth.

Below we have 2 songs that remind me of him- Why?

  1. Papa was an Eric Clapton and Peter Gabriel fan
  2. They also set me in throwback mode to when I lost him and how I felt… I’m gladly past the hurt now.

Tears in Heaven – Eric Clapton

˜˜

Peter Gabriel – I Grieve

Lyrics:

it was only one hour ago
it was all so different then
there’s nothing yet has really sunk in
it seems like it always did
this flesh and bone
is just the way that we are tied in
now there’s no-one home

i grieve for you
you leave me
it’s so hard to move on
still loving what’s gone
they say life carries on
they say life carries on and on and on and on

the news that truly shocks is the empty, empty page
while the final rattle rocks its empty, empty cage
and i can’t handle this

i grieve for you
and you leave me

let it out and move on
missing what’s gone
they say life carries on
they say life carries on and on and on

life carries on
in the people i meet
in everyone that’s out on the street
in all the dogs and cats
in the flies and rats
in the rot and the rust
in the ashes and the dust
life carries on and on and on and on
life carries on and on and on

it’s just the car that we ride in
the home we reside in
the face that we hide in
the way we are tied in
life carries on and on and on and on
life carries on and on and on

did i dream this belief?
or did i believe this dream?
now i can find relief
i grieve

Listening to these songs I am reminded that:

  • WE ALL grieve at one time or the other… its natural.
  • Death is a part of Life, so we need to be thankful for the life lived by loved ones lots.
  • The dead may be lost to this world but their memories still live on in our hearts
  •  And finally, in the end WE ALL have a date with death so lets make the best of life while we’re at it shall we 😉

Its true that Papa’s absence is felt, but so is his presence…. in the hearts and memories of those who loved him….

 STILL LOVE YOU PA!!!! 🙂

Poetry in disguise…

Love Song For A Vampire by Annie Lennox– (Lyrics)

Come into these arms again
and lay your body down
The rhythm of this trembling heart
is beating like a drum
It beats for you, it bleeds for you
it knows not how it sounds
For it is the drum of drums
it is the song of songs

Once I had the rarest rose
that ever deemed to bloom
Cruel winter chilled the bud
and stole my flower too soon
Oh loneliness, Oh hopelessness
to search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
no greater love than mine.

Love o love o …. still falls the rain
Love o love o …. still falls the night
Love o love o …. damned forever

Let me be the only one
to keep you from the cold
Now the floor of heaven is laid
the stars are bright as gold
They shine for you, they shine for you
they burn for all to see
…Come into these arms again
and set this spirit free

I turned on the media player of my computer this morning and this was the first song to greet me. Just in case you didn’t know, its the theme song to Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 film adaptation “Dracula”.
Call me weird but its still one of my best songs EVER! Take a moment to read through the lyrics of the song and you’ll soon realize,  its not just  music… its poetry.
Enjoy your day! 🙂

A Fela Kuti Inspired Word To The Leaders

Authority stealing expensive shit
Colonial Mentality breeding Mr. Follow Follow

Opposite people, power show
Shakara plus no agreement equals Go slow

Leaders, quit the Roforofo Fight!
The sorrow, tears and blood!

We don’t need another Army arrangement
or to become beasts of no nation… unless…

Hi guys! 🙂

I just wrote a cento thanks to Samuel Peralta over at dVerse.

A cento is a poem composed entirely of lines emanating from other sources. The sources for the cento may come from many authors – a line each from different poets, the titles of different novels, quotations from different politicians.

For my piece I chose titles of songs by the great Fela Kuti and made of it … well you decide 🙂 … I just hope I made the Abami Eda proud though 😉

(For Titles of Fela’s Songs please click on the link—-> FELA KUTI LYRICS)

… Continue to rest in Peace Fela!

WOW! it just occurred to me that we bear the same initials! F.K! How cool  is that?! 😀

God in Music, God in Everything

I believe God reveals Himself through the vaguest of means, take Music for instance. Besides gospel, I listen to some songs (mostly instrumental) and I’m caught up in some sort of rapture, I feel His presence (true beauty), which leads me to cry like a 5 year old :D.

Below is one of my favourite compositions done by David Buckley, one of the soundtracks to the movie “The Forbidden Kingdom“. He for one must have been touched by a higher power to have come up with such an amazing piece of Music.

God in Everything

He stretches forth His arms to share his presence in every way
The rustling trees, starry nights, the breaking of each day.
A baby’s cry, a canary sings;
all symphony and  silence give
testament to His Manifestation.
Therefore embrace His reach
through all of  His creation.

… I thank God for His beauty in all its shapes and forms.
Cheers! 🙂
