Those Five Little Words… No, Six!

I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU!

I thought the human race being the intelligent creatures we are, usually invent and come up with the easiest and shortest ways around  situations!? We got tired of candles, someone invented the light bulb; We got tired of walking, people started coming up with all modes of transportation. In the new age of texting we’ve come up with slangs such as “brb” , “ttyl” and “lol” just so we don’t have to go through the rigors of bogus words and sentences (yawning lazily); Microchips have shrunken to the Nano and so on…. So how is it that a simple 3 word sentence like “I love you” gets to be stretched out to one of 5 or 6 words instead? Well I have a theory…
The Player of the Middle Ages

It turns out that the phrase “fall in love” is  connected to the idea of “falling head over heels,” which was used in the 1300s, and is another term for being struck suddenly by great romantic attraction to someone else. (Excerpt from wisegeek.com)

The key phrase here is “Romantic attraction” people. What is that?! You either love the person or you don’t! Or why not just say “I’m romantically attracted to you”, and quit confusing people? Its all based on chemicals I tell you!

Okay back to the subject matter… my theory of the origin of this appalling modification.

Well there is no easy way for me to say this but if this sentence can actually be linked back to the 1300s then I believe it was coined up by some womanizing Knight, for some unfortunate fair maiden. No, scratch that! More a Troubadour than a Knight…. or maybe he was both.

In his bid to woo this fair lady he will do all he can to win her affection but his honor will not allow him speak those  3 sacred words in deceit. It would be sacrilege! (…maybe he’s a Knight after all)

There’s the option of him saying “I lust you”, but then in an era of chivalry such as his, he has no intention of devaluing the virtue of his one night stand, not verbally anyway. He writes her shams of love letters and poetry telling her how beautiful she is; How the shape of her eyes reminds him of stars and all that jazz, but the player still doesn’t score. This maiden is a hard nut to crack, a challenge, but he will not back down! (…definitely a Knight!)

The situation calls for drastic measures. He now realises how desperately he has to incorporate the sacred words into his libretto or else risk losing out on this conquest. A bulb lights up in his head. Eureka!

(The Victorian Player)

Down on one knee; her hand in his, he speaks the words ….”I am in Love with You”.

SCORE!!!!!!!!!

The maiden is flustered. She takes the bate all because somewhere in that sentence she hears I, Love and You. Its a happy day for both parties. She goes away feeling that she has the heart of a man now and he goes away with the experience of them doing the nasty somewhere in the woods or perhaps even in a barn.

They probably meet the next day and he pretends like nothing has transpired between them, and when she asks about his words of love he then repeats his statement s-l-o-w-l-y, adding that it was actually a declaration of his “Burning desire”. She really can’t argue with his defense so I’m guessing she ends up throwing herself off a bridge or something… And so birthed the era of damage and heartbreak all because of 5, no, 6 little words. The invention of this lengthier statement has however aided a cult of people since then. Till this very day, in the wrong hands it is one of the most valued weapons used in hurting the vulnerable heart.

Casanova may have got all the credit for being the god father of womanizers but trust me, the faceless individual with the gumption to come up with a sentence so strong, so passionate, so intense would definitely have bagged a whole lot more chicks than dear  Giacomo.

But I think I would have done it even better… Why waste time thinking up new sentences when all you need do is say “I LOVE YOU”, fingers crossed?

…JUST MESSING WITH YAL!!!! 😉

“Love is a fire. But whether it is going to warm your heart, or burn down your house, you can never tell.”

Blogging, Broadcasting and Christ

When I first started my blogs I never realized just how many people would get to read my posts, neither did I consider the sort of people that would come across my messages. Today however, was an eye opener to that reality.

People from all facets of life will read your stuff and if you make enough sense the usual case is that they get impacted with some form of entertainment, encouragement or inspiration. They will leave comments telling you how wonderful your post was or how touched they were by your message or even use one of your posts as a reference. Its a good feeling, the attention, but what happens when you start getting it from a crowd you never expected?

One of my latest posts got a pingback from a blog site today. On getting the notification I clicked on the link only to realize that I had stepped into a world absolutely different from mine. Its okay when you get on your blog and see that your blog post was liked by “your kind of people” or that they were touched by your ideas and opinion, but what do you do when your message is applauded by someone you have always considered different from you? I can’t go into detail as to what makes this person different, but my guess is that you have a few ideas relating to what I’m going on about.

Anyway, I saw the blog and noticed that my article had been made reference to in one of the blog posts. My first reaction was to trash the comment, but then something in my head or maybe my heart stopped me.  This all happened while I was at the office so I really didn’t have time to fully assess the situation. After quick deliberation I finally decided to spam it for a time, at least until I was sure about my convictions. Meanwhile, I had been receiving this broadcast from friends on my blackberry network all day saying:

Hello, I am Jesus Christ,u hardly have time for me. I love You and always bless you.I am always with You. Today I want this message across the world before midnight, please do not cut it and I’ll help you with something that you are in need of.

I’m sorry,  I love Christ and all and I RRRREALLY do, but why some people try to make him look like some sort of sales person or item is beyond me! I feel broadcasts like this one just belittles the image of my Lord and Saviour.

So what does this have to do with my initial story? A lot!

Me not rebroadcasting that message had got me feeling a little uneasy from the moment I started receiving it. I felt irritated and yet just because the message bore the name Jesus Christ in it, I was filled with guilt for not wanting to follow the B.B re-broadcasting horde. “Don’t I love Jesus enough?” I thought to myself. Then the blog issue hit! Whether or not I would accept this blogger’s comment on my page would be a test of my faith.

The sense of guilt seemed only to increase when I decided I wouldn’t delete the comment. “O so you’d rather have funny people on your blog, but rebroadcasting a message about Jesus is an issue huh?”. I wondered how Jesus saw me at that time.

At home I took my time to read this persons blog, and though their opinion and way of life is FAR DIFFERENT from mine, I could see how my message might have helped through certain feelings and emotion. It was then I realized, “your kind of people” or not, its all about making a positive contribution to a “LIFE”. Loving your neighbor as yourself and bringing peace and joy to others, isn’t that what being christian is all about?

I decided to reach out to this person and apologize for my initial reaction to their comment because in the end its all about practicing what you preach… I preach Love and acceptance, judging not so that I too will not be judged.

My final take. You can broadcast or rebroadcast messages about Christ a million and one times believing that this is your contribution to the christian race , but if your message only tends to scare, irritate or even put people on a spiritual guilt trip then maybe you need to re-think your strategy on how to draw lost sheep to The Father and Son. Its not about selling him as an idea but becoming more like him in spirit and person, that others may see and draw near.

Let your actions, thoughts and behavior speak louder than your broadcasts…

Cheers!

I’m so lucky to be someone’s baby, two people actually! There’s my Mother and then… I’ll let you guess who the other person is 😉
My Mom gave me this inscribed plaque today in her bid to refuel my morale 😉 and I just thought I should share it with you.

I couldn’t agree more!

There’s nothing as wonderful as a supportive parent.
Thank you Mama dearest for being there for me 🙂

Lions without Manes…

festivalking's avatarWithout Hair Chronicles

I came across this picture today and I instantly fell in love with it. The first thing that struck me was the splendor of the roaring beast and the second, its Mane.

The lion. A magnificent creature, graceful in its sway and yet extremely fierce when provoked. The mane of the adult male lion, is one of the most distinctive characteristicsof this huge feline. It makes the lionappear larger, providing an excellent intimidation display; this aids the lion during confrontations with other lions and with its chief competitors.

Useful thing, the mane.

Now tell me, what do you think of this picture? I edited it myself 😛

A girlfriend saw it displayed on a social network as my profile photo, and her first reaction towards it was “Eeewww”.

I know you don’t quite understand where I’m going with this just yet, but kindly indulge me for a few……

A one time offer

One night of romance
permit we share,
in heated passion
our bodies bare

Picture this:

Muttered verses
but actions clear,
unspoken I love you’s
hanging thick in the air

Bursts of energy,
violent release,
waves of passion,
and a final ease.

A picture, epic
two bodies entwined,
dawn approaching…

… Have you made up your mind?

The Insomniac

Eyes wide open,
Sleep, a dream,
20/20 vision,
yet not much to see.

In bed,
nothing to do,
so I post a piece of rubbish!
And oh… This edited picture too.

A blind eye…

Turn a blind eye if you dare,
play pretend,
pretend you are unaware,
see yet show no care.
you say “none of my business
“not my problem
so why bother?”,
Turning your vision from the disaster of another,
You overlook, you ignore,
nothing to consider,
an invisible axe now hanging over your neck,
it bears a ticking timer.
Waltzing through life,
ignorant,
unknowing,
Unmindful of the fact that reaping is in the sowing
Maybe not now,
perhaps in a bitter future,
or at a bitter end
…and in that time then others play pretend.
In the end, a blind eye will only lead to one’s own ruin… for with it how does one see?

One small step can do so much…

Today’s post has been quite a challenge as I have had to battle with an overwhelming excitement. It gives me great pleasure each time I meet women willing to strut a bald look despite the circumstance, balding or not, and then when I find public figures doing it I tend to go ga-ga. Britney Spears did it and was called nuts, but for me, crazy or not, her actions were like a fuel to my fire. Then there was Demi Moore who got a skin cut for her role in the movie “G.I Jane”

Natalie Portman in “V for Vendetta”

Finally, I would be crazy to leave out Amber Rose the American model, artist, actress, and socialite.

Joanna Rowsell was recently added to my list of heroines when at the London 2012 Olympics, she removed her helmet to reveal her almost totally bald form, after coming in first place in…

Ok, so I said I was sleepy, which I actually am but I promised myself and a blogger friend of mine that I would write about this today.

Meet Naomi Campbell. She’s a hot and sexy SUPER super-model, she’s rich and famous and according to the latest gist by the media ….she also suffers from Traction alopecia.

A friend and I were chatting after she had been on my blog and read about my ordeal when Naomi’s name came up. At some point during the conversation my friend says:

“I don’t understand why she won’t cut that thing off! She’s a model after all so her going bald will just look like a fashion statement”.

RRRRRRRrrrright! E easy like that abi? 😀 …. Well I want to tell you that its so NOT!

I still remember that faithful day of the BIG CHOP like it was a few…

God in Music, God in Everything

I believe God reveals Himself through the vaguest of means, take Music for instance. Besides gospel, I listen to some songs (mostly instrumental) and I’m caught up in some sort of rapture, I feel His presence (true beauty), which leads me to cry like a 5 year old :D.

Below is one of my favourite compositions done by David Buckley, one of the soundtracks to the movie “The Forbidden Kingdom“. He for one must have been touched by a higher power to have come up with such an amazing piece of Music.

God in Everything

He stretches forth His arms to share his presence in every way
The rustling trees, starry nights, the breaking of each day.
A baby’s cry, a canary sings;
all symphony and  silence give
testament to His Manifestation.
Therefore embrace His reach
through all of  His creation.

… I thank God for His beauty in all its shapes and forms.
Cheers! 🙂
