Say I have a story to tell, but am lacking the words and so engage copilot or Chat GPT, and using prompts and description I am able to flesh out my ideas… can I still call it creative writing? Can I still say its mine?
Please leave your comments as I would truly appreciate your opinions on this matter 🙂

That’s a good question:
My heart says no
My brain says yes
From the heart – it saddens me that creatives are being threatened by AI. I have a lot of friends; writers, artists, designers, musicians that are being impacted. It’s already a struggle trying to earn a living, in most cases, as a creative and now AI seems to be the final nail in the coffin for some. My heart says using AI to support your artistic creativity should be a no because some human, somewhere, will have been mapping keywords and ontologies based on ‘their’ emotive and psychological make-up, so as, to teach the machine. And let’s hope they are not a narcissistic psychopath!
Have the faith that your creativity far outreaches the ‘co-author’ you are collaborating with. Our tagline (see below) used to be “Your story is imperative to the completion of the all-important Universe Story.”
So, stride out alone and keep the faith!✊
From the brain – I ran a book publishing company and we offered a Ghostwriting service. The terms were that the author took full credit and there was no reference to the material being ghostwritten. We also offered substantive and copy editing, again, no reference or credit.
So, one may ask, what’s the difference? AI becomes your ghostwriter, editor, proofreader etc, etc.
And only for a nominal fee!
Thanks for asking the question and I hope my thoughts may help creatives who may be wavering between the head and the heart 🙏💜

Hi,
Many thanks for such an extensive response. I would not call myself a writer just yet, but I do try all I can to put all my thoughts and ideas on paper from time to time. Its been so very hard lately though! I have all these vivid stories in my head… but to gist my readers? Wahala!
Your comment is very welcome and I sincerely feel encouraged it.
Thank you once again

Hi – you’re welcome 🙏
I’m slightly intrigued by my own response, I don’t tend to go off on one when it comes to comments but it’s evident that AI is a massive conundrum at this present time.
Even amazing visual artists who blog their work are now using AI and part of me is sad that they are doing this.
Anyway, I’ll stop there!
Good luck on your writing journey and enjoy the process whatever direction you go in! 🙏💜

No. Emphatically no.
